This telescope has a fantastic folding optical assembly that uses a combination of mirrors and lenses to pack an incredible 1200mm focal length in a compact 12.5 inch optical assembly. As a result, this telescope is ideal for both day and night viewing. Images in this telescope are shown right-side up. With a powerful magnification 155x when using the 9mm eyepiece, this telescope is great for bird watching or as a wildlife spotting scope. For backyard astronomy, the big magnification will give you jaw dropping views of the moon. With planets you can see the Rings of Saturn and the Moons of Jupiter and great views of Mars. In dark skies you can see distant nebulae and galaxies as well. The aluminum tripod is fully adjustable and allows even taller people to observe the stars without having to crouch down in an uncomfortable position. A handy accessory tray on the tripod makes it easy to keep track of extra eyepieces. With the altazimuth mounting, the telescope is designed for beginners and children. There is nothing to it. This is a true "point-and-shoot" telescope. The mount makes it simple to aim and move the telescope, you don't need to learn about complex Polar Alignment or stellar coordinates -- just aim the telescope at what you want to see and have a look.

If you're looking for a dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the AstroMaster Series is for you. Each AstroMaster model is capable of giving correct views of land and sky. The AstroMaster Series produce bright, clear images of the Moon and planets. It is easy to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with every one of these fine instruments. For views of the brighter deep space objects like galaxies and nebulae, we recommend the larger aperture and light gathering ability of the Newtonian reflectors.

Refractor telescopes (also known as dioptrics) are probably what most of us think of when we hear the word "telescope." Refractors have a long, thin tube in which light passes in a straight line from the front objective lens directly to the eyepiece, at the opposite end of the tube. Simplicity of design, which translates into reliability and ease of use Little or no maintenance requirements Excellent lunar, planetary and binary star viewing. High contrast images with no secondary mirror or diagonal obstruction. Sealed optical tube, to protect the optics and reduce air currents, which tend to degrade image quality. Permanently mounted and aligned objective lens. The 60mm (2.4") refractor is the most popular telescope size for beginning astronomy enthusiasts and for casual gift-giving. This size telescope is perfect for introducing newcomers to astronomy, at an affordable price. For astronomical observing, the 60mm refractor allows you to see lunar details, Saturn and its rings, Jupiter and its moons, the phases of Venus, larger globular clusters, bright double stars and some bright nebulae. After adding an optional solar filter, you can observe activity on the sun. In addition, a 60mm telescope can be used for terrestrial viewing, bringing the world closer to you and allowing you to observe wildlife, distant views and your environment. Firstscope 60EQ Has all glass components, coated optic

Amateur Astronomy For Kids With Telescopes For Beginners

!9#: Amateur Astronomy For Kids With Telescopes For Beginners

Astronomy for kids can be rewarding, educational and of course fun too. With astronomy software children can take a virtual tour of our galaxy from their computer. For the hands on astronomer there are a number of telescopes for beginners available. From the simple reflecting telescope to the motorized equatorial mount refractor on up to the GOTO computerized telescope that will automatically point to any object in the night sky simply by entering information in the hand held computer keyboard.

Any parent's job is to encourage children to want to learn. Who among us can look at the star filled heavens in amazement and not be filled with questions. School does not have to be boring when the whole universe can be a classroom. Take advantage of any interest your children show in star gazing and turn it into a life long educational pursuit. Who knows where it may lead too. For all you know your child may have the next Galileo or the astronaut that will colonize mars.

But before we get that far let us discuss how to nurture your budding astronomer. A simple image search on any search engine will bring up breath taking pictures of deep space objects like nebulas, galaxies and star clusters. Showing kids what's out there can spur their imagination. Telescopes backyard astronomers commonly use will not produce fantastic images like the Hubble telescope brings back, but will more than satisfy their desires to capture pictures worth saving.

A good way to introduce kids to astronomy is by checking out your local astronomy club. Children can take advantage of years of experience other club members have and are all to willing to share with beginners. Ask when their next star party is and plan on attending. this is an excellent way for the whole family to get involved in the new hobby.

At the star party you will see different telescopes in action. If you have not already purchased you kids telescope here is an opportunity to see them in action. Each club member will have set up their telescopes and will jump at the chance to show it off. That way you can compare and find the one that is right for your child. Club members may have used telescopes they are willing to part with for the right price.

The Internet too is a never ending source of information on astronomy for kids. Astronomy projects, puzzles, games even videos will keep any child occupied for hours learning about the Milky Way galaxy we call home. By reading reviews from people using telescopes you will be able to zero in on kid friendly telescopes for beginners and find the right model for your armature astronomer. Happy star gazing!
